Week 7 Results

Last week wasn't great, but not too bad. I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep all of the weight off after my bad Chinese food incident last week, but my results today were better than I hoped. I was expecting to be in the 180s, so I was surprised to see a 7 in my number. :) I also overcame a huge temptation which I'm proud of. I made goodies for a baby shower this week and didn't lick the bowl ONCE. I have NEVER done that, especially when it's brownies! The only thing I did was taste the frosting to make sure it was ok since it was left over from the week before. I also made sure not to pig out at the shower and I didn't bring ANY leftovers home with me. WOW! Progress...

On the down side, I only exercised once last week. I haven't been getting great sleep and the last thing I want to do is exercise when I'm tired. However, I know I need to do it and will feel better for it. Well, here's what you've been waiting for:

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 179.2 lbs
Body Fat: 45.1%
Water: 40.0%
BMI: 31.74 (Obese)

Here's to better numbers next week! Thanks for checking in. I love hearing from you!!

Hmmmmmm What Can I Do?

Growing up I was always active: I played soccer for 13 or 14 years, played different sports in school, was in marching band (not too athletic, but MAN you sweat a lot), etc. I was able to eat whatever I wanted and still maintained a decent figure. However, once I stopped playing sports, got married, then had kiddos, well.... let's just say I've looked better. Year after year I would tell myself I was going to take better care of myself, diet, exercise, etc. Sometimes it would last a few days, but usually never was more than the words that came out of my mouth.

For once, I am actually DOING IT! I am doing what I said I would do and I'm keeping to it. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not perfect. (The girls I had lunch with today can sure testify to that.) But I'm changing and not just dieting but making a lifestyle change. I'm committing to something and sticking with it! Slowly but surely, I'm getting back in shape and the pounds (even more slowly) are starting to come off.

Over the past few years, I've also felt compelled to do other things outside of myself, such as volunteer at a hospital or sponsor a child, etc. Again, it's never been more than a thought that quickly vanishes. Lately, I've been feeling very burdened to do something and I'm not exactly sure about what.

To backtrack a little, we have some friends that are leaving in a couple years to do missionary work in Ethiopia. When they first told us, I thought they were crazy - who in their right mind would leave America to go to a third world country? But mostly, how did they know that's what God wanted them to do? For probably the first time in my life, I understand how they knew. I think God is trying to show me the object of this burden I'm feeling and I'm trying to listen. I feel that He is showing me things little by little so that soon I will see the "big picture." Part of me thinks it has something to do with baking and children (but not baking children - ha!), but I'm not 100% certain. Please pray that I listen to what God is trying to tell me and that I allow Him to use me to His glory, even if it means going out of my comfort bubble. Until next time....

Week 6 Results

Before you get all excited, let me just say that I ended my week, not with food poisoning, but something close. I had some REALLY bad Chinese food Saturday night and spent all day Sunday laying on the couch eating saltines and drinking gatorade and water. So, that greatly helped with my numbers this week.

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 177.8 lbs
Body Fat: 45.3%
Water: 39.9%
BMI: 31.49 (Obese)

Total weight loss to date: 7.2 pounds!! Woot woot!! My jeans are a LOT looser in the butt/leg area and I think my shoulders are finally looking better/thinner - yay!! I can't wait to see my results next week. Hopefully I can keep this weight off - we'll see.

Week 5 Results

I totally blew my diet this week. I tried to eat more salads and healthy-sounding things, but it really didn't work out the way I was hoping it would. I went to Sweet Tomatoes one day for lunch and had a full plate of salad, but topped it with regular Ranch dressing. (The fat-free stuff didn't look very appetizing). A+ on the veggie consumption, but C- on the choice of dressing. Next time I'll get a vinaigrette. On Friday, we had taco salad, which wasn't too bad for me, I don't think, but again, I had a full plate of it and I'm sure the calories weren't great. I did skip on the sour cream, which I was totally proud of myself for, but had a massive helping of guacamole - YUM!! Saturday we had soup for dinner and I had a big bowl of each corn chowder and baked potato soup with a lot of cheese on top. I washed it down with a glass of Coke, chocolate chip cookies, and a few other goodies. Friday, Saturday and Sunday I was in the kitchen baking cookies, cakes and cupcakes, so you can only imagine the types of things I was sampling. On Sunday, we had ALL sorts of things to eat, none of which, I'm sure, were very good for me. After lunch, we ate the cake I made, which I KNOW was horrible for me, but let me brag a little and say it was SOOOOO GOOOOD! :)

That being said, I'm surprised I lost a POUND (almost)!! Yay!! Also, my body fat % has gone down and my water has gone up! Woot woot!! My exercising has been really good and I'm even pushing myself during my workouts to work through the burn and work harder.

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 181.6
Body Fat: 43.9%
Water: 40.9%
BMI: 32.17 (Obese)
